Some of us are shy and some of us love the limelight – either way, we’re all thinking a little harder about our privacy online these days. Some of us cringe at the thought of our faces making their way, un-vetoed, onto Flickr or Facebook, while others celebrate selfies and tinker with filters to preserve precious memories forever (with just a little help from Instagram, perhaps!).

At OKFestival we aim to be inclusive of a wide range of perspectives, which in this case means we want to make space for people who fall across the whole ‘camera love' spectrum. To do so, we’ve looked to our friends and partners for inspiration, and have decided to allocate some areas of the OKFestival venue as ‘no camera zones’.

The ‘no camera zones' – spaces designated free from both photography and videography – will consist of the indoors bar at ‘Frannz’ (full-time) and the 1st floor of Kesselhaus (when workshops aren’t running). These spaces will be clearly marked when you are on site. All other places will be considered fair game for filming, so do remember to smile for the camera!

For those of you who are happy to be snapped, but who also want to ensure we use images appropriately, the OKFestival event team plans to use the photos and videos to report back on this event to you (the wonderful public), to Open Knowledge (the Leadership Team, funders, Board and others who keep us going and keep us accountable), and to our sponsors. The team also plans to use the images and clips when running future events like these, as examples of the fun we have when we all get together (those eagle-eyed among you may have already spotted pictures from OKFestival 2012 as well as OKCons ‘13 and ‘11 across this year's OKFestival website).

Any official photography or video content from OKFestival 2014 that we use publicly will be released under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. We strongly encourage OKFestival attendees to do the same, but of course will respect whatever licensing you choose.

We would love to share the photos and videos taken with those people who feature in them or who just want to get a flavour of what went on – to help us with that, please share your photos via the Flickr pool and tag your videos #okfest14 and/or tune into the OKFestival YouTube playlist.
